Dubai, UAE – September 8, 2025 – The sixth edition of the National Fuel Station Safety and Security Campaign has successfully concluded. The campaign was organized by the Joint Committee for Security and Safety. It was chaired by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. Notably, the campaign collaborated with the General Directorate of Civil Defense at the Ministry of Interior. It also included Abu Dhabi National Oil Company for Distribution (ADNOC Distribution), Emirates General Petroleum Corporation (Emarat), and the Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC).
Coinciding with Fuel Station Safety Day, the campaign was launched on July 17, 2025. It was held under the slogan ‘Safety is a Commitment, Not a Choice.’ This emphasized the importance of adhering to preventive behaviors and proper procedures at fuel stations.
Over its six-week duration, the campaign witnessed widespread engagement from various segments of society. It made a notable contribution to raising public awareness and encouraging compliance with safety guidelines and instructions. This reflects the campaign’s significance in promoting a culture of safety and embedding sound practices at fuel stations.
Tangible results
The campaign concluded with tangible results, achieving a public awareness rate of over 98%, according to data from field and digital surveys. The awareness messages reached various segments of society. This included both citizens and residents of multiple nationalities. The awareness programs were diverse. They encompassed direct field activities and innovative media campaigns. These were spread across digital platforms, contributing to wide and impactful public engagement.
His Excellency Eng Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, praised the pivotal role played by the National Fuel Station Safety and Security Campaign. It was key in raising awareness and promoting a culture of prevention at fuel stations.
Broad commitment
He said: “Over the past six consecutive years, the campaign has proven to be an effective platform for driving positive behavioral change within society. It is enhancing individual compliance with safety instructions and guidelines. The widespread adherence observed among community members to proper behavior during refueling reflects a growing awareness of the importance of safety in daily life. This behavioral shift has extended beyond the campaign period. It is becoming a lasting impact that is now reflected in people’s daily practices. The culture of safety has moved from being a theoretical concept to a concrete reality. This supports the UAE’s efforts in protecting lives and property and advancing its national safety and security objectives.”
He further stressed that the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, in collaboration with its strategic partners, will continue to build on this positive momentum. They will do so by intensifying awareness programs and expanding the scope of initiatives. This ensures the sustainability of the transformation brought about by the campaign. Furthermore, this approach will reach even wider segments of society in the years to come.
Constructive cooperation
Major General Dr. Jassim Mohammed Al Marzouqi, Commander-in-Chief of Civil Defense at the Ministry of Interior, affirmed that this campaign reflects the constructive cooperation. The collaboration is between the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the General Command of Civil Defense, ADNOC, Emarat, and ENOC. The goal is to promote preventive awareness and reinforce a culture of safety within the community.
He pointed out that Civil Defense places the safety of fuel stations among its top priorities. This is done through annual awareness plans, practical guidelines, and field training exercises. These measures protect lives and property. He called on community members to adhere to safety instructions. This includes turning off the engine during refueling, refraining from smoking, and avoiding mobile phone use. He emphasized that these simple measures help reduce risks. They also support the UAE’s vision of becoming one of the world’s leading countries in safety and security.
