Abu Dhabi, UAE – His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, discussed regional developments in light of the escalating military tensions in the region during a phone call he received on Thursday from Argentine President Javier Pellegrini. They also discussed the repercussions of this escalation on security and stability.

During the call, the Argentine President affirmed his country’s condemnation of the Iranian attacks targeting the UAE and several other countries in the region. He also expressed Argentina’s solidarity with the UAE in the measures it is taking to preserve its sovereignty, security, and the safety of its territory and citizens.

Condemnation of Iranian attacks

President Javier Pérez Militão emphasized his country’s condemnation of the attacks against the United Arab Emirates. He also affirmed Argentina’s support for the measures taken by Abu Dhabi to protect its national security and maintain its stability.

He noted that his country is following with concern the rapidly escalating military developments in the region. He also called for avoiding further escalation that could threaten regional security and affect international stability.

Condemnation of the targeting of the UAE consulate

The Argentine president also condemned the attack on the UAE Consulate General in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. He stated that targeting diplomatic missions constitutes a clear violation of international norms and laws that guarantee the protection of their premises and personnel.

He emphasized that respect for diplomatic immunities is a cornerstone of international relations. He also stressed the need to hold those responsible for such attacks accountable.

Call to halt military escalation

For his part, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his gratitude to the Argentine President for his country’s supportive stance towards the UAE in facing current challenges.

During the call, the two sides discussed the latest developments in the region in light of the dangerous military escalation. Both sides emphasized the importance of working towards an immediate cessation of military escalation. They also stressed the need to prioritize dialogue and political solutions to avoid further tensions that could threaten regional and international security and stability.
