Tehran – A senior Iranian official, speaking to Reuters, denied the existence of ongoing U.S. negotiations regarding a ceasefire extension, stating Tehran recognizes no fixed timeline for the truce. Consequently, Iranian officials emphasized that the United States breached the temporary agreement within 48 hours of its signature before unilaterally withdrawing altogether.

Furthermore, the source noted that discussions remain centered on Washington returning to the memorandum of understanding and establishing a strict implementation schedule. However, officials confirmed that no concrete progress has been achieved due to fundamental disagreements over mutual obligations.

Iranian Demands and Frozen Assets

On the other hand, Maj. Gen. Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, stressed that Washington must end its aggressive posture and unfreeze Iranian assets held abroad. Additionally, Tehran demanded a complete cessation of military conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon, confirming that comprehensive conditions have been relayed to U.S. officials through intermediary channels.

Consequently, Tehran maintains that binding guarantees and clear compliance metrics are prerequisites for any future diplomatic framework. Ultimately, Iranian authorities aim to compel Washington to demonstrate verifiable commitments before proceeding with new security arrangements.

Finally, the denial of ceasefire extension talks highlights persistent diplomatic deadlocks between Washington and Tehran. Ultimately, progress will depend on addressing Iran’s core demands regarding asset release and regional conflict resolution.
