Davos – US Treasury Secretary Scott Bisent said the US Navy could assist in escorting commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, in cooperation with an international coalition. This could happen as soon as military conditions permit.
Cooperation with an international alliance
“I think that as soon as military conditions permit, the US Navy, perhaps in conjunction
with an international coalition, will escort ships through the Strait,” Bisent told Sky News.
These remarks come amid escalating tensions in the Gulf following repeated Iranian attacks on cities and countries in the region.
This increases the risks to maritime navigation and the security of global energy supplies.
tense security situation
In a related development, Bloomberg informed its employees in the Gulf, including its regional headquarters in Dubai, that they could temporarily work from outside the region.
This decision was made due to the heightened security tensions following Iranian attacks.
The United States is pursuing international efforts to ensure the safety of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital oil transit route.
Close monitoring of military developments remains a crucial factor before any international escort operations for ships are undertaken.
