Dubai, UAE – In light of the qualitative urban transformation witnessed by the Emirate of Dubai, which developed within a short period and at record speed. Old houses, which are simple in their designs and building materials used, have turned into skyscrapers that rival their counterparts in New York, Moscow and Shanghai. And other famous global financial and business cities.

Dubai’s dream is not limited to launching a small number of towers, but it is constantly being renewed, focusing on how to develop the emirate’s urban structure. Therefore, the Dubai government did not stop at building Burj Khalifa, the tallest residential and commercial tower in the world. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, inaugurated the construction work on Dubai Creek Tower in late 2016.

Dubai Creek Tower is one of Dubai’s most famous high-rise towers, boasting features unmatched by any other building on Earth. Upon completion, it is expected to take the title of the world’s tallest skyscraper from the Burj Khalifa.

What do we know about Dubai Creek Tower?

The new tower is a landmark that is set to be added to the emirate’s long list of tourist attractions. This mega project is one of Emaar Properties’ latest projects, which is listed among Dubai’s top real estate developers, alongside Dubai Holding.

Its architectural design, which blends authentic local culture with the utmost creativity and modern innovation, was executed by Spanish-Swiss architect Santiago Calatrava Valls.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, stressed that this project is a continuation of Dubai’s pioneering journey towards building the future.

The first phase saw the pouring of foundation concrete with approximately 50,000 cubic meters of cement weighing 120,000 tons to a depth of 20 meters. To cover the tower’s supports, 16,000 tons of reinforced steel were used to a depth of 72 metres.

Tower design

The tower’s design is a true addition to Dubai’s diverse architectural designs, embodying diverse cultures from around the world. Perhaps the most prominent of these is the beautiful Islamic architecture. The tower represents a blend of Islamic architecture and modern design, as the project’s design was inspired by the shape of mosque minarets.

In contrast, parts of the Dubai Creek Tower’s design mimic the shape of a desert lily, with the tower’s structure representing a flower stalk and the structure connected to the project floor via strong cables inspired by the shape of lily leaves. As for the flower bud, it will be fixed in the ground with high precision using the latest engineering and urban equipment and technologies. The shape of the oval bud thus defines the features of the tower’s viewing platforms, which will add another icon to the most beautiful buildings in the Emirates in general. The tower tops the list of properties under construction by Emaar in the UAE.

  • Rotating glass balconies offer panoramic views of the emirate’s skyline and surroundings
  • VIP gardens similar to the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, one of the Seven Wonders of Iraq

Luxury accommodation units and a number of commercial outlets

  • Luxury boutique hotel

expansion plans

Emaar Properties founder Mohammed Alabbar announced the modernization and redesign process that the new Dubai Creek Tower project is undergoing. It was revealed that the allocated area will cover 1,200 hectares. This means that it is more than twice the area of Downtown Dubai, which is about 500 hectares, and the project’s waterfront is scheduled to extend over a length of 2 km. In addition, this iconic tower will include 679 million square meters of residential units. 851,000 square meters of commercial space, and 22 hotels with 4,400 rooms. In addition to an area estimated at about 11.16 million square meters for retail sale. That is 10 times the area of Dubai Mall, which covers 1.1 million square meters.

What distinguishes Dubai Creek Tower from Burj Khalifa?

Both Burj Khalifa and Dubai Creek Tower are among the most prominent urban landmarks in the UAE, embodying the architectural and engineering ambition that distinguishes Dubai in the world.

Burj Khalifa came as a global icon with its towering height and status as the tallest tower in the world.. On the other hand, the Dubai Creek Tower project comes to complete the journey of excellence, as it promises a unique design inspired by tulips and mosque minarets, with modern technologies that make it a new future icon.
