And other famous global financial and business cities.
Dubai’s dream is not limited to launching a small number of towers, but it is constantly being renewed, focusing on how to develop the emirate’s urban structure. Therefore, the Dubai government did not stop at building Burj Khalifa, the tallest residential and commercial tower in the world. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, inaugurated the construction work on Dubai Creek Tower in late 2016.
Dubai Creek Tower is one of Dubai’s most famous high-rise towers, boasting features unmatched by any other building on Earth. Upon completion, it is expected to take the title of the world’s tallest skyscraper from the Burj Khalifa.
What do we know about Dubai Creek Tower?
The new tower is a landmark that is set to be added to the emirate’s long list of tourist attractions. This mega project is one of Emaar Properties’ latest projects, which is listed among Dubai’s top real estate developers, alongside Dubai Holding.
Its architectural design, which blends authentic local culture with the utmost creativity and modern innovation, was executed by Spanish-Swiss architect Santiago Calatrava Valls.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, stressed that this project is a continuation of Dubai’s pioneering journey towards building the future.
The first phase saw the pouring of foundation concrete with approximately 50,000 cubic meters of cement weighing 120,000 tons to a depth of 20 meters. To cover the tower’s supports, 16,000 tons of reinforced steel were used to a depth of 72 metres.

Tower design
The tower’s design is a true addition to Dubai’s diverse architectural designs, embodying diverse cultures from around the world. Perhaps the most prominent of these is the beautiful Islamic architecture. The tower represents a blend of Islamic architecture and modern design, as the project’s design was inspired by the shape of mosque minarets.
In contrast, parts of the Dubai Creek Tower’s design mimic the shape of a desert lily, with the tower’s structure representing a flower stalk and the structure connected to the project floor via strong cables inspired by the shape of lily leaves. As for the flower bud, it will be fixed in the ground with high precision using the latest engineering and urban equipment and technologies. The shape of the oval bud thus defines the features of the tower’s viewing platforms, which will add another icon to the most beautiful buildings in the Emirates in general. The tower tops the list of properties under construction by Emaar in the UAE.
