Muscat, Oman – The Oman News Agency confirmed in an official statement that operations at the Port of Al Fahal in Muscat are currently proceeding normally and regularly. This follows a minor explosion at the port earlier today, Friday.

Resumption of operational activity

This confirmation put an end to concerns raised about the safety of logistical operations at the port. Sources familiar with the matter told Bloomberg that the port—Oman’s main crude oil export terminal—had fully resumed operations after a brief precautionary halt to some shipping activities. This followed an explosion earlier that morning.

Infrastructure safety

The same sources explained that initial technical inspections confirmed there was no direct damage to the docks or vital infrastructure related to export operations. They also indicated that all operational procedures have returned to normal. It is worth noting that the schedule of Omani crude oil shipments experienced a very limited and temporary impact in the hours immediately following the incident.

The strategic importance of Al Fahal port

Mina Al Fahal holds immense strategic importance in Oman’s energy sector, ranking as one of the country’s most prominent crude oil export terminals. Its significance is amplified in the current geopolitical context by its unique strategic location outside the Strait of Hormuz, making it a safe and preferred destination for maritime transport. Amidst escalating regional tensions and the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel, Mina Al Fahal stands out as one of the few oil loading points in the region that maintains continuous and regular operations and flows. This reinforces Oman’s position as a reliable hub for global energy supplies.

Crisis response efficiency

These developments come at a time when global markets are closely monitoring the security of energy flows in the Middle East. The rapid recovery of operations at the port reflects the efficiency of the security and operational procedures in place at vital Omani facilities and their ability to absorb unforeseen incidents and ensure the continuity of supplies despite the complex regional circumstances. Omani authorities have not yet released any further details regarding the precise cause of the explosion or who was responsible. Meanwhile, on-the-ground indicators confirm the return of calm and complete stability to the port area.
