Highlights
  • Invest time properly
  • Important targets

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – The Dubai Future Foundation and Amazon UAE announced the launch of an innovative pilot project.

It aims to develop the delivery services sector as part of the “Sandbox Dubai” initiative. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation, recently approved its launch. This is to develop the legislative and innovative environment in Dubai in partnership between the governmental, private and legislative sectors.

This supports the use of modern practices and enhances the competitiveness of various economic sectors in the emirate.

This cooperation comes after Amazon UAE joined Sandbox Dubai partners. They work on developing the legislative and innovative environment concerned with the future of seasonal jobs.

The pilot project, in collaboration with Amazon UAE, focuses on enhancing delivery services to customers in densely populated areas of Dubai.

This contributes to providing additional and flexible job opportunities for entrepreneurs and small business owners.

This is in line with the Emirate of Dubai’s keenness to enable innovative practices and support qualitative ideas and projects.

Invest time properly

The project aims to enhance the utilization of unused working hours through on-foot delivery.

This model is expected to reduce the need to use vehicles for delivery.

This contributes to reducing traffic congestion and reducing carbon emissions resulting from the delivery services sector.

Ronaldo Mashhour, Amazon Vice President for the Middle East, Africa and Turkey, expressed his happiness. He is glad to cooperate with the Dubai Future Foundation through the “Sandbox Dubai” initiative. This aims to innovate new delivery models in the Emirate of Dubai.

This will enhance his company’s mission to provide customers with delivery services characterized by speed, comfort and reliability.

For his part, Khalfan Juma Belhoul, CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation, confirmed that cooperation with Amazon UAE comes within the framework of cooperation between the public and private sectors. This aims to develop the legislative environment that supports innovation in Dubai and the UAE. It also launches qualitative pilot projects that benefit society and contribute to enhancing economic competitiveness and readiness for the future.

Important targets

It is worth noting that Sandbox Dubai is considered one of the main transformational projects within Dubai’s economic agenda (D33).

Which aims to double the emirate’s economy over the next decade. This will consolidate its position among the top three economic cities in the world.

The Sandbox Dubai platform provides an ideal opportunity for innovators to test and develop their business models, products, and services. These are then ready to be put on the market.

All this within a realistic and safe environment, supported by expert guidance and flexible regulatory supervision. This helps them overcome challenges and accelerate their entry into the market.

It also contributes to strengthening Dubai as a global innovation hub by supporting real-world experiences. These provide accurate data to regulators.

This, in turn, helps develop evidence-based policies that support sustainable and progressive growth.
