Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – The artificial intelligence sector in Abu Dhabi is witnessing rapid growth. This reflects the emirate’s transformation into a global center for innovation and technical development. Data from the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry revealed that the number of companies specialized in artificial intelligence has reached 673. This figure represents an annual increase of 61% compared to the period between June 2023 and June 2024.

The number of companies specialized in artificial intelligence globally was estimated at about 90,904 companies until 2024. This highlights Abu Dhabi’s position as a prominent center within this accelerating scene.

Indicators show that Abu Dhabi is the fastest growth center in the field of artificial intelligence in the Middle East and North Africa region. Its location has established a leading global destination for innovation. Research projects based on artificial intelligence thrive here.

Abu Dhabi is establishing itself as a global center for adopting artificial intelligence across strategic sectors. It achieves this by setting international standards supported by a system of leading institutions and bodies. This system includes the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council. The council is responsible for formulating policies and strategies related to scientific research, developing infrastructure, and enhancing investments in artificial intelligence and advanced technologies.

The system includes the Advanced Technology Research Council, the Institute of Technological Innovation, and the AI71 Center for Applied Solutions. It also includes the Global Technology System in Abu Dhabi “Hub71”, the G42 Technology Group, and Space 42 Space Technology Company. This reflects the integration of efforts towards building a knowledge economy based on innovation and future technologies.

The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry stated that more than 58% of artificial intelligence companies in the emirate focus their activities on innovation, research, and consulting. This highlights an advanced business environment based on knowledge and scientific research. 150 new companies in the field of artificial intelligence were established during the first half of this year. Strategic investments, advanced infrastructure, and increasing demand from various vital sectors in Abu Dhabi drove this growth.

His Excellency Shams Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Second Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi Chamber, confirmed that the artificial intelligence sector in the emirate is witnessing a rapid transformation. It is moving from the stage of early adoption to the stage of maturity and actual institutional application. There is an increase in activities based on scientific research, strategic consulting, and advanced institutional solutions.

He pointed out that this growth is not measured in numbers alone. Instead, it embodies a vibrant community that includes an elite group of entrepreneurs, scientists, and global leaders. They see Abu Dhabi as an ideal environment for launching ambitious technology projects.

He emphasized the leadership of the artificial intelligence system in Abu Dhabi. This reflects the strength of the partnership between the government and the business sector and the integration of global expertise and emerging talents. There is an effective link between scientific research and industry. He explained that the Chamber plays a pivotal role in strengthening these ties and creating a supportive environment for innovation, which serves as a consistent standard, not an exception.

The new strategic roadmap of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry for 2025–2028 represents a key axis in driving economic transformation. It focuses on enhancing ease of doing business, developing supportive policies, and enhancing the integration of the economic system.

The working group concerned with supporting artificial intelligence and technology includes an elite group of sector leaders. They contribute effectively to shaping the future of artificial intelligence in Abu Dhabi. This cooperation gives the emirate a unique competitive advantage. It consolidates its position as a leading center for innovation and advanced technological projects.
