Zurich, Switzerland – FIFA has announced the appointment of Salvadoran referee Ivan Barton to officiate the highly anticipated match between France and Spain in the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup.
On Tuesday evening, Arlington Stadium in the United States will host the highly anticipated match in which the two teams will compete to secure the first qualifying spot for the World Cup final.
Barton will be the referee, assisted by his compatriots David Moran and Antonio Popero, while Swede Glenn Nyberg will be the fourth official, and his compatriot Mahbod Beigi will be the reserve assistant referee.
The French national team reached the semi-finals after defeating Morocco 2-0, while the Spanish national team qualified after defeating Belgium 2-1.
The French team is looking to reach the World Cup final for the third time in a row, while the Spanish team is seeking to regain its place in the final match for the first time since winning the title in the 2010 South Africa edition.
