Cairo, Egypt – Zamalek secured their place in the CAF Champions League round of 32 after a resounding 4-0 victory over Djibouti’s AS Port in the second leg of their preliminary round tie.
The match was held at Cairo International Stadium. Zamalek thus confirmed their superiority over the two legs with a 6-1 aggregate score, having previously won the first leg in Cairo 2-1.
Abdullah Al-Saeed established himself as the star of the match, after scoring three goals (a hat-trick). He started in the seventh minute, after receiving a cross which he shot, which hit one of the Djibouti team’s defenders and went into the net.
Just one minute later, El-Said doubled Zamalek’s lead, after meeting a cross from the left with a direct shot that shook the net.
The Zamalek player completed his hat trick in the 18th minute, capitalizing on a low cross from Chico Banza, which he met with a powerful shot that found the back of the AS Port goal.
In stoppage time, specifically in the 90+2 minute, Nasser Mansi completed Zamalek’s four-goal haul with a shot from inside the penalty area, confirming the White Knights’ passage to the next round.
Zamalek will face Rwandan side APR in the round of 32 of the CAF Champions League, after the latter secured their qualification at the expense of Congolese side Eagles with a 3-0 victory.
