Abu Dhabi, UAE – Official weighing procedures for participation in the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu Championship will begin on Thursday evening. Hosted by Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City in the capital, Abu Dhabi, the competitions will be held on Friday and will last for three days. 2,338 male and female players from 75 countries around the world, including 200 black belt players, participated in one of the strongest stations of the season on the international scene.

The tournament is of particular importance as it is the final round of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam world tour series. Which was launched last season and included a number of the most prominent capitals and cities in the world. Reflecting Abu Dhabi’s advanced position in leading and developing jiu-jitsu at the international level.

The tournament also represents a decisive milestone in the annual classification race of the Abu Dhabi Association of Jiu-Jitsu Professionals. It awards first-place winners 3,000 ranking points, which increases the pace of competition between elite male and female players seeking to strengthen their positions on the global stage.

Great turnout for the tournament

The Abu Dhabi Association of Jiu-Jitsu Professionals confirmed that registration for participation closed early Tuesday morning, following the large turnout witnessed by the tournament from various countries around the world. Technical and organizational preparations are currently continuing at Mubadala Arena to host the event according to the highest professional standards. Amid expectations of a large audience presence throughout the three days of the competitions.

The tournament comes within an integrated sports system through which the UAE has established its position as the world capital of jiu-jitsu. Thanks to the great support of the wise leadership, and the ongoing cooperation between the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and the Abu Dhabi Association of Jiu-Jitsu Professionals. Which contributed to expanding the base of practitioners, discovering talents, creating champions, and organizing international tournaments according to the best technical standards.

Various competitions

The association announced the tournament schedule, with the first day witnessing competitions in the Masters 1, 2, 3 and 4 categories for men in the purple, brown and black belts. In addition to women’s competitions for the masters category, as well as amateur competitions for men and women in a number of different age groups and belts.

The official weighing procedures for the first day’s competitions will be held on Thursday evening from five to seven in the evening. It will be completed on Friday morning from eight to nine in the morning.

The second day is dedicated to competitions for the young boys, cubs, juniors and youth categories for boys and girls from 4 years old to under 18 years old. In confirmation of the continued interest in building a strong base of practitioners and preparing new generations capable of continuing the UAE’s successes in this sport globally.

The third and final day will witness competitions for the professional categories of the purple belt, in addition to the brown and black belts for men and women. Amid expectations of strong confrontations between elite international champions and seeds.

A model for sports investment

The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Championship embodies a successful model of sports investment in human development and enhancing the UAE’s international presence. Abu Dhabi was able to build an integrated system for the sport of Jiu-Jitsu that combines hosting major tournaments and developing talents. Consolidating the noble values of sports based on discipline, respect and fair competition.
