Kyiv, Ukraine – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that his country has reached an agreement with the United States for the monthly delivery of interceptor missiles.
This comes as part of efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense capabilities and counter missile and drone attacks.
Zelensky emphasized that the agreement aims to ensure a regular supply of interceptor missiles to Ukrainian forces.
This will bolster the readiness of air defense systems and enhance their ability to protect cities and vital infrastructure.
The importance of continued US support
Kyiv considers acquiring air defense missiles one of its top military priorities, especially given the ongoing Russian strikes targeting sites and facilities within Ukrainian territory.
Zelensky emphasized the importance of continued US support, explaining that the regular delivery of the missiles will help his country plan its defense needs and maintain the effectiveness of its air defense systems.
Enhancing infrastructure protection
The agreement comes as Ukraine intensifies its efforts with the United States and European countries to acquire more air defense systems and ammunition,
in an attempt to bolster the protection of its infrastructure and cities in the coming phase.
Kyiv continues to urge its Western allies to provide more air defense systems and interceptor missiles.
This coincides with the ongoing war and diplomatic efforts aimed at reaching a settlement to end the fighting.
