Cairo, Egypt – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced its full support for the re-election of Gianni Infantino as president of FIFA, for a new term extending until 2031.
The official CAF website stated that the Executive Committee held a meeting in Vancouver, prior to the start of the 76th FIFA Congress. The meeting saw unanimous agreement from member associations to support Infantino in the upcoming elections for the 2027-2031 term.
This stance aligns with that of the Asian Football Confederation, which had previously announced its full support for the FIFA president’s re-election, confirming the unanimous agreement of its executive committee on this decision.
This broad continental support reflects the coordination and cooperation between FIFA and the continental federations, particularly in light of the significant expansion of the game’s competitions and the increase in global investments, especially within Asia, in recent years.
