Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Abha Club secured its promotion to the Saudi Professional League next season, after defeating its host Al-Ta’ee 2-1, in the match that took place on Tuesday evening, as part of the 33rd round of the First Division League.
Hamoud Al-Shammari scored both of Abha’s goals, opening the scoring in the fifth minute of the first half, before adding the second goal in the second half.
Abha raised its tally to 71 points, topping the Saudi First Division League standings, 8 points ahead of its closest pursuer, Al-Diriyah, with 5 rounds remaining in the competition, thus officially securing promotion.
The struggle is raging between several clubs to secure the second qualifying spot, most notably Al-Diriyah, Al-Ula and Al-Faisaly, who occupy the second to fourth positions in the Yellow League.
