Cairo, Egypt – Al Ahly SC announced it is escalating its stance against Modern MTI TV, confirming its official boycott of the channel and taking all legal measures to protect the rights of the club and its board of directors.
Al-Ahly explained in an official statement that it has decided not to cooperate with the channel, and to prevent any of the club’s members from appearing on its screen, in addition to taking legal action before the competent authorities, in light of what was broadcast recently.
The club had previously filed a report with the Attorney General, in addition to an official complaint with the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, accusing the channel of publishing false news related to the club and its president, Mahmoud Al-Khatib.
In a related context, Modern MTI channel issued an official statement, in which it affirmed its respect for Al-Ahly Club and its board of directors, stressing its commitment to accuracy in publishing news, and relying on sources it described as reliable.
The channel also clarified that the news regarding the president of Al-Ahly, which was discussed by journalist Hani Hathout, was based on a source from within the club’s board of directors – according to its statement.
