Cairo, Egypt – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Monday an increase in prize money for the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup. This increase will take effect starting with the current 2025-2026 season.
According to a CAF statement, the African Champions League winner will receive a $6 million prize, a 50% increase over the previous amount. The CAF Confederation Cup winner will receive $4 million, a 100% increase.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) explained that the prize money for the CAF Champions League winner has increased significantly compared to previous years. The prize was previously $2.5 million, then it reached $6 million, representing an overall increase of approximately 140%.
The prize for the African Confederation Cup champion also increased from $1.25 million to $4 million, an overall increase of 220%.
CAF indicated that the total prize money and solidarity payments allocated to African clubs will exceed $42 million per season. This represents an increase of approximately 114% since Patrice Motsepe was elected president of the Confederation of African Football.
