Rabat, Morocco – The Egyptian national football team finished their group stage campaign in the Africa Cup of Nations at the top of Group B, following a draw with Angola.
Egypt forced a goalless draw against Angola in the match that brought them together this evening, as part of the third and final round of the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations, at the Adrar Stadium in the Moroccan capital, Rabat.
With this result, Egypt increased their points tally to 7, maintaining their lead in the group. They had already secured qualification for the Round of 16 in the previous round after defeating South Africa.
The match witnessed attacking attempts by the Egyptian national team, as Hossam Abdel-Maguid almost opened the scoring in the 20th minute, after he rose to a powerful header following a scissor kick from Mostafa Mohamed, but the ball went over the crossbar.
In contrast, Chico Banza missed a chance to put Angola ahead, after he found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper and shot the ball just wide of the post.
The match remained a back-and-forth affair between the two teams, with neither managing to score, and ended in a goalless draw.
