Abu Dhabi, UAE – The UAE Pro League is back in action with the start of Round 21, following the international break, which gave clubs a chance to regroup before entering a crucial stage of the season.
This round carries added importance, given the close competition and overlapping stakes among the top teams vying for the title and Asian Champions League spots, as well as the bottom-ranked clubs battling to avoid relegation, giving it a unique competitive edge.
The round kicks off on Saturday, April 4th, with two matches at 5:50 PM: Al Nasr vs Al Wahda, and Al Bataeh vs. Kalba.
The first day’s matches conclude with a game between Shabab Al Ahli and Al Jazira at 8:30 pm.
The matches will continue on Sunday, April 5, with four fixtures. The first match will see Khorfakkan take on Bani Yas, followed by Dibba against Al Dhafra, both at 5:50 PM. The round will conclude with Al Ain playing Ajman, and Sharjah facing Al Wasl, both at 8:30 PM.
The battle for the top spot intensifies
This round features crucial matches in the title race, most notably the clash between Al-Nassr and Al-Wahda. Al-Nassr (27 points) aims to move closer to the top four, while Al-Wahda (34 points) hopes to solidify its position among the elite.
All eyes will also be on the Al Ahli vs. Al Jazira match, a direct clash between second and third place. Al Ahli currently has 49 points, just one point behind league leaders Al Ain. Meanwhile, Al Jazira (37 points) aims to continue its positive run and firmly enter the title race.
At the end of the round, league leaders Al Ain face a crucial test against Ajman as they look to maintain their top spot. Meanwhile, Al Wasl (33 points) clash with Sharjah (21 points) in a match of equal importance in the race for the top positions.
Survival battles are no less exciting
On the other hand, the bottom-of-the-table clashes are imposing themselves strongly, as Al Bataeh (14 points) hosts Kalba (21 points) in an important match to improve their positions.
Khorfakkan (20 points) will also face Bani Yas (21 points) in a closely contested match. Meanwhile, Dibba, at the bottom of the table (14 points), will have a tough test against Al Dhafra (18 points) in a direct battle to escape the relegation zone.
The matches of round 21 reflect the sensitivity of this stage of the season. Their results could significantly shape the battles at both the top and bottom of the table, as the league nears its final stages, intensifying the competition in every match.
