Doha, Qatar – The Saudi national team secured the second qualifying ticket to the semi-finals of the Arab Cup, after defeating Palestine, on Thursday evening, at Lusail Stadium in Qatar.
The Saudi national team met with Palestine in the quarter-finals of the Arab Cup tournament.
The match was exciting and competitive from the first minutes, with both teams attempting to score an early goal.
Egyptian referee Amin Omar awarded a penalty kick to the Saudi national team in the 55th minute, after Salem Al-Dawsari was fouled inside the penalty area.
Firas Al-Buraikan successfully executed the penalty kick in the 58th minute, after a shot to the left of the Palestinian goalkeeper.
The response from the Palestinian national team was not long in coming, as Oday Dabbagh scored the equalizer for the Palestinian team in the 64th minute. This came after he received a ball inside the penalty area and then shot it into the net.
Saudi Arabia almost scored a second goal in the 70th minute, after a shot from Ali Majrashi hit the crossbar and went out.
Palestine’s Oday Dabbagh responded with a shot in the 88th minute, which went just wide of the left post of the Syrian goalkeeper.
In the dying moments, specifically at minute 90+2, the Saudi team scored a second goal, but it was disallowed due to offside.
The match remained a back-and-forth affair between the two teams until the final minutes, ending in a 1-1 draw, and then the two teams went into extra time.
In the second extra period, Mohammed Kanno snatched the second goal and the victory for the “Green” team, after a cross from Salem Al-Dawsari that he headed into the net.

It is worth noting that the Moroccan national team had already secured the first qualifying spot for the semi-finals after defeating Syria.
