Cairo, Egypt – Saudi press reports revealed that Algerian Noureddine Benzekri, the former technical director of Al-Kholoud Saudi Club, is close to coaching the Egyptian club Zamalek.
According to the Saudi newspaper Al-Youm, Noureddine Benzekri is close to taking over as Zamalek’s coach. This comes after the official departure of Belgian Yannick Ferrera from his position.
The newspaper explained that Ben Zekri will lead the team in the semi-finals of the Egyptian Super Cup, which will be held in the UAE.
Ben Zekri’s last coaching experience was with Al-Kholoud last season. He led the Saudi team in 28 matches, winning 11, drawing 3, and losing 14.
Ben Zekri won one championship during his football career, which was the Algerian Cup with ES Setif in the 2009-2010 season.
He also coached other clubs before Al-Akhdoud, namely Damac and Al-Fayha in Saudi Arabia, ES Setif of Algeria and Al-Wakrah of Qatar.
Zamalek of Egypt are preparing to face Tala’ea El-Gaish in the upcoming round of the Egyptian Premier League, a match to be held at Cairo Stadium.
