Madrid, Spain – Danish Julius Johansen, rider of the Emirates XRG cycling team, won first place and topped the overall standings. He also achieved his first victory in the Tour de O Gran Caminho in Spain, during the first stage of the time trial competitions that began on Tuesday.
Johansen was able to cover a distance of 15 kilometers in a time of 17 minutes and 43 seconds. 15 seconds ahead of Portuguese Rafael Reis, the Anicolor-Campicarn rider, who finished second.
With this victory, Johansen leads the overall standings of the race, ahead of Rafael Reis and Nelson Oliveira. Adam Yates is in sixth place.
On the other hand, his teammate Adam Yates gave a distinguished performance. He finished the stage in sixth place, 40 seconds behind. This will enhance his chances of competing in the overall standings, especially in the upcoming mountain stages.
