Algeria – Over the past 24 hours, Algeria has witnessed 80 fires across several provinces, fueled by a heatwave and strong winds that have rapidly spread the flames. Civil Protection teams have continued their intensive efforts to contain the fires and protect residents and property.
The Civil Protection authorities announced that they have brought 72 fires under control and extinguished them completely. Efforts are ongoing to extinguish the remaining fires, with firefighting teams supported by ground and aerial resources. Monitoring operations are also continuing to prevent the fires from reigniting.
Authorities confirmed that interventions covered several areas affected by forest, brush, and agricultural fires, noting that the rapid response helped minimize losses and prevent the fires from reaching residential areas.
Competent authorities continue to monitor the situation on the ground, while urging citizens to exercise caution and adhere to safety guidelines, especially given the ongoing weather conditions that increase the risk of forest fires during the summer season.
