  • Investment prospects and new job opportunities

Amman, Jordan – Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Yarub Qudah, affirmed that the complete exemption of all types of Jordanian clothing and textile exports from US customs duties, and their entry into the US market with zero tariffs, constitutes a historic qualitative leap for the national economy and strengthens the depth of strategic relations between the two countries. In a statement issued Sunday, Qudah indicated that this achievement is the culmination of intensive negotiations that lasted a full year within the framework of the reciprocal trade agreement signed in Washington last Tuesday, complementing the free trade agreement concluded in 2001.

Details of reduced fees and the export sector

The agreement included a reduction in reciprocal tariffs on Jordanian goods to 10 percent, a highly competitive rate compared to other countries. The apparel and textile sector also benefited from full customs exemption, further enhancing the Kingdom’s investment appeal. Apparel exports to the United States exceeded 431 million dinars during the first third of this year and are expected to double thanks to these facilitations.

Investment prospects and new job opportunities

The minister explained that these facilitations will attract a new wave of local and foreign investments, solidifying Jordan’s position as a leading regional export hub. They will also contribute to creating sustainable job opportunities and expanding the global market share of Jordanian companies, amidst ongoing coordination with the private sector to translate these gains into tangible projects.
