As concerns grow over the impact of digital content on the values and awareness of younger generations, the Arab Media Union, a member of the United Nations, has issued a stark warning about the rapid spread of inappropriate and morally degrading material on social media platforms—especially TikTok.

The Arab Media Union, a member of the United Nations, expressed deep concern and strong condemnation over the increasing moral decline in the content broadcast on some social media platforms—most notably TikTok. The Union warned that this trend now poses a direct threat to the societal values and traditions of the Arab world.

In its official statement, the Union stressed that the live-streamed content shared by some users—featuring vulgar scenes and offensive material—crosses red lines and undermines the moral and religious heritage that binds Arab nations to their identity and traditions.

Commenting on the matter, Dr. Ahmed Nour, President of the Arab Media Union, stated:

“What we are witnessing today in terms of the decline in digital content quality constitutes a blatant threat to our cultural identity and moral values. It is time for media, security, and educational institutions to unite and put an end to these disgraceful practices through strict legislation and effective monitoring mechanisms.”

The Union called on relevant authorities in Arab countries—particularly media and security institutions—to fulfill their responsibilities and take the necessary legal, technical, and media-related actions to protect the youth and Arab families from this behavioral and cultural decline.

The Union also emphasized the urgent need for responsible oversight of digital content, along with launching comprehensive awareness campaigns aimed at increasing public consciousness of the dangers posed by low-quality media. It further urged support for initiatives that seek to produce high-quality, value-driven Arabic content that reflects the authentic identity and values of the Arab nation.
