The center was founded in 1998 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. The center is located in the Bastakiya area of ​​the historic Al Fahidi neighborhood, and the building takes the form of a traditional Emirati house with towers.
