An Islamic alliance led by the G8 states: No to the displacement of Palestinians… Yes to a comprehensive and just peace.

The statement did not limit itself to calling for an end to the war, but rather outlined clear political and security paths: rebuilding Gaza, preventing the displacement of Palestinians, releasing hostages, a full Israeli withdrawal, and establishing the two-state solution.

Cairo, Egypt – The joint statement issued by the foreign ministers of the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, and Indonesia marks a pivotal moment in the international response to the war in Gaza. These countries, with their political, economic, and diplomatic weight, not only welcomed US President Donald Trump’s initiative, but also provided it with regional political cover and broad diplomatic support. This strengthens the chances of transforming it from a mere proposal into a practical, implementable framework.

Remarkably, the statement did not limit itself to calling for an end to the war, but rather outlined clear political and security paths. These included the reconstruction of Gaza, preventing the displacement of Palestinians, the release of hostages, a full Israeli withdrawal, and the establishment of a two-state solution. This reflects a trend toward a comprehensive settlement that goes beyond the confines of a ceasefire.

The emphasis on “rejecting the annexation of the West Bank” also sends a direct message to Israel not to circumvent international law. It also sends another message to the international community that the unity of Gaza and the West Bank into a single political entity is the only guarantee for long-term stability.

It also highlights that the signatory states, led by the UAE, have chosen to keep the United States as a key partner and leader of the political process. This stems from their awareness that no reconstruction or comprehensive peace will be possible without the American role. Ultimately, this statement lays new foundations that could reshape the Palestinian landscape. Gaza is transformed from a battlefield into a launching pad for a comprehensive political settlement based on international law and a balance between regional security and Palestinian rights.
