London, United Kingdom – English press reports have revealed moves by Arsenal to sign Brazilian Vinicius Junior, Real Madrid winger, during the current summer transfer window, in a deal that could become the biggest in the history of the London club.
The British newspaper “Telegraph Sport” reported that Arsenal’s management discussed the financial value required to complete the deal, stressing that the financial compensation would not be an obstacle to trying to sign the player.
She added that club officials believe Vinicius will be a great addition to the team, despite Arsenal having many excellent options in the wing position, led by Englishman Bukayo Saka, but the coaching staff, led by Mikel Arteta, aspires to strengthen this position with a world-class player.
The newspaper noted that Vinicius earns a weekly salary of £400,000 with Real Madrid, while Arsenal intends to give him the biggest contract in the club’s history, in a move that reflects its ambition to compete for major titles.
She pointed out that Arsenal have only made two signings during the summer transfer window so far, bringing in winger Christos Tzolis and goalkeeper Illan Meslier, but signing Vinicius would be a game-changer for Arteta’s project.
The newspaper confirmed that Portuguese Jose Mourinho, the new manager of Real Madrid, does not want to let go of any of the team’s most prominent stars, but Arsenal is preparing to take advantage of the approaching end of Vinicius’ contract, which has only 12 months left, in order to try to convince the Spanish club to complete the deal.
Arteta hopes to strengthen his team with players capable of leading Arsenal to better results in the Champions League, after losing the final of the last edition against Paris Saint-Germain.
