The military investigation is focused on two main possibilities: the first is that a munition fired by U.S. forces struck the house where the wedding was being held. The second possibility is that a stray Iranian munition landed nearby after being deflected. The U.S. administration has not yet presented conclusive public evidence to support either hypothesis.

The Iranian Red Crescent announced that five people were killed and 67 others injured in the explosion that rocked a wedding party on Tuesday, September 1st. Iranian officials directly accused the United States of targeting the building and causing civilian casualties.
