Tehran, Iran – The Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed that an Iranian technical delegation will visit Qatar this week to discuss mechanisms for implementing the memorandum of understanding. However, it emphasized that no talks with the United States are planned for the coming days.
Technical delegation to Doha
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated that a technical delegation will travel to Doha for talks concerning the implementation of the memorandum of understanding. This comes within the framework of technical coordination between the two sides on agreed-upon issues.
He explained that the visit falls within the implementation phase of the memorandum and aims to follow up on technical aspects and implementation mechanisms. He also emphasized that it is not related to any political negotiations or meetings with other parties.
Denial of any connection to the American delegation
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson denied any connection between the Iranian delegation’s visit to Qatar and the visits of US officials to Doha. He emphasized that each visit had its own independent objectives and agenda.
He indicated that linking the two visits was unfounded. He clarified that the Iranian technical discussions were limited to reviewing the implementation of the memorandum of understanding with the Qatari side. He further explained that these discussions were entirely separate from any arrangements concerning Iranian-American relations.
No negotiations with Washington
The Iranian Foreign Ministry reiterated that Tehran will not hold talks with the United States in the coming days. It also denied that any round of negotiations is currently scheduled between the two sides.
The ministry emphasized that Iran’s position remains unchanged, noting that any current diplomatic efforts are limited to monitoring the implementation of existing understandings with relevant parties.
It also confirmed the continuation of technical and diplomatic contacts within the framework of announced agreements. These efforts are being conducted separately from any new direct negotiations with Washington.
