Islamabad, Pakistan – In the context of strengthening fraternal relations and strategic partnership between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Lieutenant General His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa, Commander of the Bahrain National Guard, held a series of high-level military and security talks during his official visit to Pakistan.

High-level military talks in Rawalpindi

At the General Command Headquarters of the Armed Forces in Rawalpindi, His Highness met with the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, Field Marshal Asim Munir.

The meeting addressed ways to enhance military cooperation and coordination between the two countries, as well as reviewing regional and international developments and current events in the Middle East. The meeting also discussed the implications of these events for security and stability.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Isa praised the depth of bilateral relations, emphasizing Manama’s commitment to continuing joint efforts to solidify the strategic partnership.

For his part, Field Marshal Munir stressed the importance of this visit in advancing military relations towards broader horizons of mutual coordination.

Strengthening security and intelligence coordination

In a related development, the Commander of the National Guard held a meeting with Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik, Director General of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), in the presence of Brigadier General His Highness Sheikh Salman bin Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa, Assistant Chief of Staff of the National Guard for Operations and Training.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on strengthening security and intelligence cooperation. Both sides commended the significant progress in bilateral relations, emphasizing the importance of exchanging expertise to enhance defense and security capabilities in order to address current challenges.

A maritime defense partnership to ensure stability

He concluded his visit with a meeting with Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Pakistani Navy, in Islamabad.

During the meeting, the Commander of the Bahrain National Guard commended the pivotal role played by the Pakistani Armed Forces in maintaining security and stability at both the regional and international levels.

The two sides discussed a number of issues of mutual interest, affirming their commitment to developing military coordination in a way that serves the national interests of both brotherly countries.

Deepening defense ties in light of international changes

This intensive round of military meetings comes at a sensitive time for the region and embodies the keenness of the Kingdom of Bahrain and Pakistan to coordinate positions and unify defense visions, particularly in light of the rapidly evolving security situation.

This visit reflects the deep-rooted historical ties that bind the two countries and their shared determination to continue cooperation in various military and security fields. This ensures the strengthening of friendship and the achievement of collective security amidst international strategic shifts.
