Washington, DC – Former US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley warned against Iran’s current diplomatic plans. She asserted that Tehran is clearly seeking to prolong the ongoing negotiations with world powers because it has never intended, at any time, to reach a genuine agreement or abide by its terms.
Haley warns of Iranian stalling tactics
In a brief but strongly worded post on her official X Twitter account, Haley stated, “Iran is stalling right now because it simply doesn’t want to reach any agreement.”
The former US diplomat added, warning of Tehran’s military ambitions, “It wants to possess a nuclear deterrent so it can threaten the security of Israel, the United States, and the entire world.”
Haley’s remarks coincided with an extensive report published by Reuters, which quoted a high-ranking Iranian source as saying that Iran’s controversial uranium enrichment program, along with Tehran’s control over shipping in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, remain major obstacles and points of contention in the complex negotiations with the United States. The source also confirmed that no final agreement has yet been reached.
Trump’s decisive language on the nuclear program
In the same vein, President Donald Trump entered the fray with decisive language, warning the Iranian leadership of the consequences of “something very dangerous” that their country might face if Tehran did not unequivocally and definitively agree to a complete abandonment of its nuclear weapons program. This came as political negotiations continued behind the scenes to end the ongoing regional war.
Nikki Haley had previously stated to Fox News host Martha McCallum last March that the large-scale joint military attack launched by US and Israeli forces under the name “Operation Epic Wrath” against vital targets in Iran was a “historic turning point.” She also explained that this attack reshaped the balance of deterrence in the Middle East.
