New York, USA – The United States affirmed its readiness to hold Iran fully accountable for any targeting of freedom of navigation. It emphasized that the security of international maritime routes is a non-negotiable priority.

This comes amid escalating regional tensions related to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf.

US warning before the Security Council

The US representative to the Security Council stated that Washington is prepared

to hold Tehran accountable for any actions targeting freedom of navigation.

She affirmed that the United States will continue working with its partners to ensure

the security of maritime routes and will also work to protect international trade from any threats.

She added that maintaining freedom of navigation is a cornerstone of regional stability and the global economy.

And She indicated that any attack on ships or disruption of transit would be met with an appropriate response.

She emphasized the necessity for all parties to adhere to international law.

Tensions escalate in the Strait of Hormuz

The US representative’s remarks come at a time of heightened tensions in the Gulf region following an exchange of accusations

between Washington and Tehran regarding maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz.

This strait is one of the world’s most important shipping lanes for oil and gas.

In recent days, international concerns have escalated following reports of incidents involving shipping in the strait.

Some have warned that continued tensions could lead to disruptions

in global energy supplies and increased shipping and marine insurance costs.

Calls to avoid escalation

The international community is closely monitoring developments as diplomatic efforts continue to contain the crisis.

These efforts also aim to prevent it from escalating into a wider confrontation that could threaten regional security.

Observers believe that the US statements reflect its commitment

to freedom of navigation as an international principle.

This comes at a time when political contacts are ongoing between several regional

and international parties to reduce tensions and maintain the stability of vital maritime routes.

Concerns also persist regarding any actions that could affect global trade and energy security.
