Beirut, Lebanon – Hezbollah Secretary General Naim Qassem affirmed in a press statement issued today, Monday, May 4, 2026, that “there is no ceasefire in Lebanon, but rather an ongoing Israeli-American aggression.” Qassem also emphasized the resistance’s firm stance against any field arrangements imposed by external powers. He indicated that “there is no ‘yellow line’ or buffer zone, and there never will be.”
The field and thwarting the enemy’s plans
Qassem explained that “the enemy has not achieved any progress on the path to a Greater Israel, and will not achieve it even if all the world’s most monstrous criminals join forces with them.” He also noted that the resistance has adopted combat tactics suited to the current situation. The resistance has learned from past experiences, which is evident in its “mastery of its operations and its surprise tactics on the battlefield.”
Regarding the military tactics employed, Qassem stated that “there is no need to remain fixed in any one geographical area.” He explained that the resistance fighters move from various Lebanese regions using hit-and-run tactics to inflict maximum casualties on enemy soldiers and officers. He added that this prevents them from establishing a permanent presence in the occupied territories.
Sovereignty and internal unity
The Secretary-General stressed that Lebanon is the party under attack and is the one that needs genuine guarantees for its security and sovereignty. In a message addressed to the international community and the Lebanese public, he affirmed that “the solution will not be surrender.” He called on all domestic parties not to stab the resistance in the back or serve the enemy’s interests at this critical juncture. Qassem also asked rhetorically, “Is there any country in the world whose government would align itself with the enemy to confront the country’s resistance against occupation? No.” He emphasized the necessity of liberating the land through internal unity, explaining that this would enable the government to fulfill its duties.
Factors for passing the stage
Qassem identified four key factors that could help overcome current challenges: the continuation of resistance activities on the ground, strengthening internal Lebanese consensus, capitalizing on the Iranian-American agreement, and exploiting any international or regional moves that put pressure on the enemy. In closing, Qassem emphasized the government’s responsibility to safeguard national unity and achieve sovereignty. He also called for issuing orders to the army to defend the country and stressed the need to address the economic and social crises facing citizens.
