Tel Aviv, Israel – The US Embassy in Jerusalem acknowledged its current inability to conduct evacuations of its citizens from Israel, given the rapidly escalating security situation and the expanding range of rocket and drone attacks in the region.
In an urgent statement published on its official website and social media platforms, the embassy confirmed that it is “currently unable to organize evacuations or provide special departure flights.” It urged American citizens to remain indoors or in safe locations and to strictly adhere to the instructions of the Israeli Home Front Command.
The diplomatic mission stated that it is monitoring developments around the clock. It noted that the airspace is experiencing widespread disruptions, while airports are facing significant operational pressure due to heightened security measures. In addition, a number of international flights have been canceled.
This admission comes at a time of growing concern within diplomatic circles about the escalating confrontation, especially after intense exchanges of fire on multiple fronts. This has rendered traditional evacuation plans “unfeasible at this time,” according to the statement.
The embassy urged American citizens to update their information through the State Department’s Traveler Registration Program. It also advised them to regularly monitor security alerts and to prepare emergency kits in anticipation of any sudden developments.
Observers believe this announcement reflects the complexity of the situation on the ground, particularly since embassies typically resort to emergency evacuation plans when risks escalate. However, this admission of inadequacy underscores the exceptional nature of the situation in the region.
Contacts are ongoing between Washington and several regional capitals to contain the situation, while all eyes remain on the trajectory of the escalation and the possibility of new parties becoming involved in the confrontation in the coming hours.
