Washington, DC – US President Donald Trump renewed his threats against Iran, warning that the United States would “destroy it again.” He emphasized that if Tehran sought to revive its nuclear program and regain its strength without reaching an agreement, the threat would remain.
Trump’s remarks came during a meeting with reporters at the White House on Thursday evening, where he described a previous attack on Iranian nuclear facilities as “an incentive for peace.”
The attack was described as “total destruction”.
Trump asserted that this attack represented “the most complete destruction of Iran’s nuclear capabilities.” He indicated that it “made peace possible,” because before, everyone feared Iran, and now they no longer do.
In referring to the losses suffered by Tehran, Trump quoted US officials as saying that some experts used the term “mass destruction.” This description refers to the strike inflicted on Iran.
Iranian losses: Trump said the Iranians “said they may never be able to start over. And if they do, they’ll have to choose a new place.” He emphasized that Iran itself “stated they may never be able to return to those nuclear sites.”
Trump described the “battle over Iran’s nuclear capabilities” as a turning point in regional developments, saying: “This war was a devastating blow… The blow they received was so severe that I don’t think they’ll want to try again.”
Direct threat and military capabilities
The US president emphasized Washington’s ability to disable Iranian missiles “very quickly.” He asserted that “no other country” is capable of launching such an attack. He also described the United States as “the best-equipped and best-military country in the world.”
He added that disabling Iran’s capabilities is what “made peace possible.” He also pointed out that “if Iran had not been so effectively disabled, none of our allies in the region would have been able to reach the agreements we have now.”
Supreme Leader responds to “return of conflict”
Hours before Trump’s remarks, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, in a meeting with government supporters, addressed the repeated statements about “the return of military conflict in Iran.”
Khamenei described these claims as “a deliberate act to create anxiety and doubt among citizens.”
The Supreme Leader pointed out that “America is at the heart of this broad and active front, and some European countries surround it.”
He praised the leaders of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. He said that Iran “is not the country it once was” and that its situation has “deteriorated significantly.” However, he cautioned that Tehran might try to revive its nuclear program in the future. “They can try, but it will take a long time to get back to where they were.”
Iran’s readiness to reach an agreement with the United States
In another part of his speech, Trump claimed that Iran was now ready to negotiate with his administration. He said, “They very much want to make a deal with me. And I also want to make a deal with them if possible. Before the bombing, we were reasonably close to making a deal.”
Trump described the 12-day war as a “missed opportunity” for Iran. He added, “They could have made a deal where there were no casualties or buildings destroyed. We would have targeted their nuclear facilities and that would have been the end of it. They could have made a great deal, but they missed that opportunity. And now they want to make another one.”
Over the past six months, the war of words between Donald Trump and Iran has continued. Trump has repeatedly threatened the Iranian government with another attack on its nuclear and missile facilities.
