Dubai, UAE – Dnata, the leading global company in the field of aviation and travel services, announced an investment exceeding 25 million euros (about 108 million dirhams).
This is to develop a modern cargo facility at Milan Malpensa Airport through its fully local subsidiary, Airport Handling.
DNATA said in a statement that this strategic project comes within the framework of its commitment to building a highly efficient shipping services infrastructure in markets with strong long-term growth potential.
The expansion of Airport Handling follows a competitive bidding process launched by SEA Group, operator of Linate and Malpensa\ airports.
The project is expected to contribute to creating 200 new job opportunities.
This strengthens the company’s position as the leading ground handling service provider in Italy.
The new facility will be built in the Cargo City area inside the airport, and will extend over an area of 10,000 square meters.
With an annual handling capacity exceeding 100,000 tons.
The facility, which is scheduled to become operational in September 2027, will be designed in accordance with the highest international standards to support the handling of all types of shipments.
Including perishable products, pharmaceutical products, dangerous goods, live animals, aircraft engines, and vehicles.
In line with DNATA’s global sustainability strategy, the new facility will include a range of highly energy-efficient solutions.
They include solar panels to generate renewable energy, advanced thermal insulators, and high-efficiency LED lighting.
Warehouse and office spaces will also be designed to maximize the use of natural lighting.
It will rely on low-consumption heating and cooling systems, and the site will include infrastructure that allows the implementation of low-emission ground operations.
