Cairo, Egypt – Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel praised the global governance initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping. He described it as embodying the values of justice and integrity. Additionally, he mentioned it as a model the world can trust in the face of current challenges.

Highlights
  • Early support from Cuba
  • China and the Peaceful Development Model
  • Cuban-Chinese relations

In an interview with China Media Group (CCTV-CGTN), Díaz-Canel emphasized that his country looks forward to a broader future of partnership with Beijing. This comes especially as the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and China approaches. He described these relations as “deep and strategic.”

Early support from Cuba

The Cuban president revealed that Havana was among the first countries to announce its support for the Chinese initiative following its launch at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit. He considered it an extension of other Chinese initiatives. These initiatives call for “building a community with a shared future for humanity.”

China and the Peaceful Development Model

He added, “China has always sought development based on peace, cooperation, friendship, and solidarity. With its pioneering achievements and international credibility, this initiative highlights China’s just and responsible commitment to global issues.”
