Moscow, Russia – The Russian Defense Ministry announced that air defense systems shot down and destroyed 55 Ukrainian drones overnight. They described the operations as one of the most intense waves of attacks targeting Russian territory since the start of the war.

Target Places

The statement explained that the drones were intercepted in Rostov Oblast, Krasnodar Territory, and Crimea. Additionally, they were taken down over the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. It noted that air defenses operated around the clock to deal with the attacks.

Continued Ukrainian escalation

Moscow noted that Kyiv has recently intensified its use of attack drones and artillery shelling against civilian areas and vital installations. It believes the goal of these operations is to confuse Russian defenses and raise the cost of the war.

Russian response

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense confirmed that its forces continue to target Ukrainian military infrastructure sites. These include weapons production and repair facilities, ammunition depots, and troop and foreign mercenary staging centers.

Moscow Message

The statement stressed that the “special military operation” will continue until its stated objectives are achieved. It accused Kyiv of escalation and attempting to lure more Western support to prolong the war.
