Baghdad, Iraq – The Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces affirmed that the decision to surrender weapons and consolidate their control under the state is part of efforts to build a state based on institutions. This decision also aims to safeguard the unity of national decision-making and put an end to the multiplicity of security decision-making centers in the country.
Reinforcing Rule of Law and Official Institutions
The Commander-in-Chief stated that placing weapons under sole state supervision represents a fundamental step toward enforcing the rule of law and expanding the capacity of official agencies to manage security dossiers uniformly across all regions.
He explained that surrendering weapons falls within a comprehensive pathway aimed at fortifying state structures and protecting sovereign decision-making, thereby curbing overlapping spheres of security influence while fostering an environment conducive to social cohesion.

Unifying security authority constitutes a cornerstone for protecting citizens and embedding internal stability, the military chief emphasized, noting that weapons control extends beyond immediate tactical goals to solidify statehood concepts and define agency responsibilities.
