Washington, DC – The issue of birthright citizenship has entered a new phase of confrontation between the Trump administration and the judiciary, after a federal court issued a ruling blocking the administration’s attempts to restrict birthright citizenship for children born on US soil. The ruling follows an executive order by Trump aimed at narrowing the scope of birthright citizenship in certain cases. This has sparked widespread legal challenges from immigrant rights organizations and families affected by the order.

The court ruled that the proposed amendments conflict with the protections afforded by the U.S. Constitution, particularly the Fourteenth Amendment, which forms the legal basis for the principle of birthright citizenship. It should be noted that there are specific exceptions stipulated by law. The White House maintains that its actions aim to impose stricter controls on the citizenship system and prevent what the administration considers the exploitation of existing rules. However, opponents of the new policy argue that it constitutes a violation of a fundamental constitutional right.

The dispute is expected to continue in US courts, as the Trump administration maintains its position and seeks to defend the new measures. Meanwhile, legal and human rights groups are working to keep the issue suspended. This conflict has brought the issue of birthright citizenship back to the forefront of political and legal debate in the United States. It is worth noting that this is linked to immigration issues and the limits of the president’s authority to modify citizenship policies through executive orders.
