Kuwait – Kuwaiti authorities have officially ordered the closure of the country’s only private Iranian school, a senior official at the Ministry of Education told AFP. This move comes after Kuwait was subjected to repeated Iranian attacks during the Middle East conflict. Specifically, it followed the collapse of the ceasefire agreement last June.

Details of the cancellation decision and instructions for parents

Although the source did not officially disclose the direct reasons behind the closure decision, its timing coincides with regional security tensions. Kuwait is one of the Gulf states that hosts US bases and forces. It has also been the target of repeated Iranian attacks throughout the conflict.

The government decision, seen by AFP, clearly states: “The Minister of Education has issued a decision to revoke the educational license of the private Iranian school and permanently close it.” The decision also includes the immediate suspension of new student admissions for the upcoming academic year. Furthermore, the ministry urged parents to quickly transfer their children to other accredited schools before the start of the next academic year.

Ending the Iranian private educational presence in Kuwait

With this decisive decision, the curtain falls permanently on the only Iranian educational institution in Kuwait. This completely ends the presence of private Iranian schools on Kuwaiti soil. It also requires families to make immediate arrangements for their children’s academic progress. In the same vein, the General Directorate of Private Education has begun meticulously monitoring the implementation of the cancellation decision. This is to ensure compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory frameworks.

The Ministry affirmed its commitment to facilitating the transfer of students to other accredited educational institutions without any academic delays. However, official sources declined to provide further details regarding the availability of alternative private institutions. They simply confirmed that the closure procedures were based entirely on the laws governing educational operations and reports from the private education sector in the country.
