Tel Aviv, Israel – Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz has instructed that no reduction be made to the military forces deployed in the Gaza border area. He emphasized the continued state of high alert in light of the ongoing security tensions along the border with the Gaza Strip.
During a security assessment with senior military commanders, Katz stressed the need to maintain the current troop levels. Moreover, he said it is necessary to enhance preparedness to respond to any developments on the ground. He also indicated that the security situation does not currently permit any reduction in troop deployments.
He explained that the Israeli army will continue to carry out its defensive and offensive missions according to the assessment of the situation. Furthermore, a high level of readiness will be maintained to protect settlements and areas adjacent to the Gaza Strip. This is in anticipation of any sudden escalation.
These directives come as the Israeli military continues to monitor developments on the ground along the Gaza border, amid fears of renewed clashes. Consequently, this has prompted the military command to maintain ground forces and reserve units in their current positions.
The Israeli Defense Minister emphasized that the security of the areas surrounding the Gaza Strip is a government priority. He also stressed that any decisions regarding troop redeployment will be subject to security and field assessments. As a result, this ensures the maintenance of full military readiness to confront any potential threats.
