  • Monthly job losses and structural shifts
  • Energy and tax crises threaten the industrial base

Berlin, Germany – Germany’s industrial sector is facing mounting structural challenges with continued job losses at an accelerating pace, amid widespread warnings over the declining competitiveness of national industries due to accumulated economic and structural pressures.

These developments cast a heavy shadow over the future of the industrial base of Europe’s largest economy.

Monthly job losses and structural shifts

Tanja Gunner, the executive director of the Federation of German Industries, explained that the sector is going through a very critical phase, witnessing the loss of about 15,000 jobs per month, noting that structural transformations, particularly the increasing reliance on artificial intelligence technologies, are reshaping the industrial labor market.

At the same time, she emphasized that German industry still possesses strong capabilities and expertise that give local companies a competitive advantage against global technology giants.

Energy and tax crises threaten the industrial base

Industry officials believe that rising energy costs, increased taxes on companies, continued bureaucratic complexities, and high social contributions are the main obstacles to the recovery of the national industry.

Industry associations called for a more attractive investment environment and the adoption of economic policies that support growth and investment in the face of US tariffs and fierce competition from Chinese markets.
