New Delhi, India – The Kukarach Janata Party (CJP) announced the end of its widespread protests in India following Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, a move the protesters considered a victory for their demands after weeks of demonstrations, sit-ins and hunger strikes protesting allegations of leaked exam questions and fundamental irregularities in the education system.
These developments mark a turning point in the escalating popular pressure on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.
Minister’s Resignation Ends the Crisis
Dharmendra Pradhan announced his resignation in a statement posted on the “X” platform, affirming that the events of recent days were painful to him and that the issue transcends his personal position, noting that he submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The resignation came ahead of a new round of talks between the government and movement leaders, marking the first major concession by the government since the outbreak of protests.
Protesters End Sit-ins
The Cockroach Janta Party movement, which originated via social media, announced that the government met all its demands during the final round of negotiations, confirming the end of sit-ins and calling for the peaceful withdrawal of protesters from demonstration sites.
The movement had started more than a month ago demanding educational reforms following accusations of entrance exam question leaks, before expanding its demands to encompass unemployment, job opportunities, and government accountability.
