Tel Aviv, Israel – Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said the Israeli army has destroyed 83% of Hamas tunnels in the part of the Gaza Strip under its control.
He affirmed that military operations will continue to complete the destruction of the movement’s military infrastructure.
Announcement regarding the tunnel network
Katz explained that Israeli forces had managed to destroy the majority of
the tunnel network located within areas controlled by the army in the Gaza Strip.
He noted that these operations are part of the ongoing military campaign against Hamas.
He added that the army continues to conduct field operations
targeting the remaining tunnels and facilities that it says are used for military purposes.
Continuation of military operations
Katz confirmed that ground and engineering operations would continue with the aim of completing the destruction of Hamas’s infrastructure.
He noted that Israeli forces were working to expand their control in several areas within the Gaza Strip.
He pointed out that the tunnel network is one of the most prominent military targets and is a key focus of the Israeli army’s operations in Gaza.
Hamas has no comment
Hamas did not immediately comment on the Israeli defense minister’s
remarks or the figures he announced regarding the percentage of tunnels destroyed.
Katz’s statements come amidst ongoing Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, regional and international efforts continue to reach a ceasefire agreement and a prisoner exchange.
This comes as the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip deteriorates.
