Quneitra, Syria – The countryside of Quneitra province in southwestern Syria witnessed heightened security tensions following a limited Israeli incursion into several areas near the demarcation line with the occupied Golan Heights, according to Syrian media reports.
Sources indicated that the movement involved the limited and temporary entry of military vehicles into rural areas before they returned to their positions. A state of alert prevailed in the surrounding area, but there were no confirmed reports of direct clashes or casualties.
Reports indicated that residents of villages near the separation line lived in a state of anxiety and anticipation, amid reports of intermittent military movements. Meanwhile, field units monitored developments on the ground in anticipation of any potential escalation.
This development comes at a time of recurring tension in southern Syria. This is linked to a confluence of field and security factors related to the border with the Golan Heights, making the region one of the most sensitive points in the Syrian landscape in recent times.
