Abuja, Nigeria – Salem Saeed Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, presented to Dr. Omar Aliu Toray, Chairman of the Commission of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), his credentials as Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates to the organization.
The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the UAE and ECOWAS in areas of common interest. They also reviewed prospects for developing partnerships with West African countries to support sustainable development efforts, stability, and prosperity in the region.

Al Shamsi stressed the UAE’s keenness to strengthen cooperation and partnership relations with ECOWAS and its member states. Based on the growing relations between the UAE and the countries of the African continent. He said that the UAE’s appointment as a permanent representative to ECOWAS reflects the country’s interest in strengthening cooperation with African regional organizations. For his part, Dr. Touray welcomed His Excellency the Ambassador, expressing his appreciation for the UAE’s prestigious regional and international standing.
He praised the UAE’s development experience and the qualitative achievements it has made in the fields of economy, infrastructure, energy, technology and innovation. Stressing ECOWAS’s aspiration to benefit from Emirati expertise and strengthen partnerships that serve the goals of development and prosperity in West African countries.
His Excellency also expressed his wishes to the UAE leadership, government and people for continued progress and prosperity. Stressing the organization’s keenness to continue developing cooperation and partnership relations with the UAE during the next stage.
