Tehran, Iran – Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said that US and Israeli policies in the region, including what he described as a naval blockade and military escalation in Lebanon, make their interests and bases legitimate targets for Iran.
Escalation in Iranian rhetoric.
According to statements published on his X-platform account, Qalibaf believes that the ongoing field and political developments, particularly in Lebanon, reflect a continued escalation. He maintains that the United States and Israel bear responsibility for this escalation.
Accusations of non-compliance with agreements
Qalibaf pointed out that neither side is adhering to the ceasefire nor believes in the path of dialogue. He added that what he described as the maritime blockade and the violations related to Lebanon confirm, in his words, that the language of force is the only language prevailing in dealing with these issues.
Growing regional tension
These statements come amid escalating tensions in several arenas across the region, particularly in Lebanon. Military operations continue there between Israel and Hezbollah, with the parties exchanging accusations regarding responsibility for the escalation. The possibility of further expansion in the coming period also looms.
