Moscow, Russia – Russian gas supplies to Europe via the TurkStream pipeline have been temporarily halted. This is due to pre-scheduled maintenance work, according to data from the European Gas Transmission System Operators Network and the Bulgarian gas network operator.
Temporary supply stoppage
The data indicated that the shutdown began with maintenance work at the Russkaya pumping station and receiving terminals in Turkey.
This is part of a maintenance program scheduled from June 2nd to 10th.
The operators confirmed that the interruption of gas flow through the pipeline is part of planned routine maintenance.
This work aims to maintain the infrastructure and ensure continued operation after the maintenance period is completed.
The TurkStream pipeline is one of the most important remaining routes for transporting Russian gas to Europe.
This comes after the shutdown of several other supply lines in recent years.
A vital pathway for energy supplies
The pipeline is used to supply gas to several European countries,
including Serbia, Hungary, and Slovakia, as well as Turkey, which is a key transit point.
The pipeline is gaining increasing importance as one of the few remaining channels for transporting Russian gas
to European markets, following changes in supply routes in recent years.
Data indicates that maintenance work will continue until June 10. Normal supplies
are scheduled to resume after the completion of planned technical inspections and repairs.
These developments come at a time when the European energy market is
experiencing fluctuations related to gas supplies and changes in import routes,
highlighting the vulnerability of the continent’s energy infrastructure.
