Gaza, Palestine – A group of Arab and Islamic countries issued a joint statement strongly condemning the incursions by groups of settlers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, under the protection of Israeli forces. They considered these actions a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of the historical and legal status quo in occupied Jerusalem.
The statement emphasized that the continued and repeated incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque and attempts to impose a new reality within the holy site would inflame tensions in the region and lead to further instability. It also warned of serious repercussions for regional security if these violations continue without international deterrence.
The signatory states emphasized that Al-Aqsa Mosque is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims, and that any attempts to infringe upon it or alter its historical status are categorically rejected. They also called upon the international community to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities to halt these practices and ensure respect for religious sites.
The statement demanded the protection of Palestinian civilians in Jerusalem and an end to unilateral measures aimed at changing the city’s religious and historical identity. It stressed that continued escalation threatens to unleash a new cycle of violence in the Palestinian territories.
The signatories called for urgent international action to pressure Israel to halt the repeated violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque and to revive a serious political process that guarantees the rights of the Palestinian people and achieves a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution. This statement comes amid escalating tensions in Jerusalem, with increasing settler incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque during holidays and special occasions, and repeated warnings of a potential explosion of violence in the holy city.
